The store also sell pre-made or made to order sandwiches, soups, pastries, coffee etc. I went with a summer sausage sandwich (just because it said summer ... since there was still snow on the ground on April 7), a homemade macaroni salad a coffee and a donut. All for about $9. The sandwich was okay but i did drown it in 5-7 packets of mustard to ward off cycling cramps.

Practical and adorable. Great atmosphere and homemade food. Everything you could need without driving to town when you run out of milk.

It's the old school General Store, from way back. There is just about everything you could want, snacks drinks, odds and ends, coffee, fresh made sandwiches, hot soup. Have a chat with the owner, say hi to the locals who drop by. Small town hospitality at its best. A little bit out of the way, but a great trip back in time.

I am not sure why you might be travelling through Chysler Ont. But if you are in the area and considering the fact that there are very few authentic looking Country Stores left in Eastern Ont. Why not to stop in for a coffee or an ice cream or four loaves of Wonder Bread.

The Old General Store obviously tries to recapture the spirit of our grandparents. With a colorful display of all the food staples you would expect from General Store, it was fun just to poke around and take pictures. I bet this place sells a ton of ice cream and milkshakes in the summer!

85kms into a 150kms bike ride I was starting to bonk. My goal was to try and reach the Timmies in Monkland but I was fading fast. After crossing the bridge in Chysler, seeing the Old General store was like an Oasis in the desert. Time to refuel. The store was empty when I walked in except for a young shopkeeper and some old timer with a bushy white beard and dirty ball cap and thick glasses wearing overalls with two handfuls of wonderbread. He looked like a old time train conductor so I am not sure if he was a paid actor to make the store look more authentic or a legitimate customer. I never did see a train parked out front but this old man stared at me as if I was wearing a space suit. I assume this store doesn't see too many tourists in the off season.
